“My house shall be a house of prayer for all peoples.”
Isaiah 56:7

At MCCSF we often say we are a “house of prayer for all people”, speaking to our core value and desire for radical inclusiveness. And from the perspective of religious beliefs, backgrounds and current spiritual practices, the diversity of the people who come through our doors is quite extraordinary.

It is interesting to know the usual translation of the Isaiah scripture is “a house of prayer for all peoples” (plural) indicating that our house should encompass all nations and tribes, not just individuals. In the monthly Many Lights program at MCCSF, we create evenings to expand our exposure to religious and spiritual practices of other peoples. More than a lecture, these experiences give us an opportunity to participate with the presenter in some activity from their tradition or practice.
